Rivergrove, Oregon : ウィキペディア英語版 | Rivergrove, Oregon
Rivergrove is a city in Clackamas, Oregon, United States. A small portion of the city extends into Washington County. Its name comes from a combination of the Tualatin River, which forms its southern border, and Lake Grove, a community that is now part of Lake Oswego. The population was 485 at the 2013 census. ==History==
Rivergrove came into existence January 27, 1971, after a vote of 57 to 48 in favor of incorporation. The residents were afraid of being ultimately incorporated into either Lake Oswego to the northeast, or Tualatin to the southwest. More important, local residents wanted more control over land zoning, which until incorporation, had been centrally controlled by Clackamas County. Many residents in the late 1960s had become alarmed by the conversion of a single family residence into a commercial swim club and eventually a weight training facility. The controversial athletic club remained the only commercial business within Rivergrove until its demolition in 2005 to make way for a residential subdivision. Seven years later the subdivision has not been finished. Other than some subtle signage on three streets entering Rivergrove, there is no clear demarcation separating Rivergrove from either adjacent community: one has to know that it exists to even be aware that one is driving through the city. Some residents of Rivergrove have lived in the city since its inception. Over the last few years it has become a desirable location because of its wooded setting and large residential lots. Most homes were built between the late 1950s and early 1970s, although there are some that were built as early as 1910. Recent construction in four subdivisions has added many new homes.
